Hucklebug Preschool Inc.

About Us

Hucklebug Preschool Inc. is a non-profit corporation with charity status administered by a Board of Directors. The Centre and its facilities are owned by the families that patronize it. All our licensed programs are inspected annually by the Ministry of Education, the Peterborough County Health Unit, and the local Fire Departments. We are financed by parent’s fees, proceeds from fundraising activities and provincial funding through Children’s Services, Peterborough.

Mission Statement

Hucklebug Preschool Inc. believes in providing a high-quality Early Childhood program that cultivates authentic, caring relationships and connections to create a sense of belonging among and between children, adults, and the world around them. We believe that every child is an active and engaged learner who explores the world with body, mind, and senses and is a capable communicator who expresses themself in many ways. Our program fosters communication and expression in all forms. We strive to provide children with different environments and experiences in order to engage them in active, creative, and meaningful exploration, play, and inquiry.

Board of Directors

Hucklebug Preschool Inc. operates with a volunteer Board of Directors.  The Board meets 4-6 times per year.  Becoming a member is an annual position commencing with our Annual General Meeting in May/June.  The purpose of the Board of Directors is to maintain strong, viable, non-profit child care programs in the Norwood and Havelock area. They set policies for the organizational operation pertaining to: Human Resources, Planning, Finances and Community Relations.  The elected positions are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Director(s).
